Overview
Various expensive equipment are needed to conduct advanced medical and life sciences research. “Innovative Support Alliance for Life Sciences (iSAL)” was launched as an alliance of core facilities at Kyoto University to help researchers in conducting cutting-edge research. iSAL is the alliance of five departments, including Graduate School of Medicine, Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Graduate School of Biostudies, Institute for Life and Medical Sciences, and Institute for the Advanced Study of Human Biology (ASHBi). It has established as an open common-access system that provides researchers within and outside of Kyoto University with the access to advanced research equipment and facilities available in the five departments via a unique online system called KUMaCo (Kyoto University Management System for Core Facilities).
