KU-UCSD/CNT Seminar Series #1 was held.
Kyoto University Graduate School of Medicine, University of California, San Diego (UC San Diego), Moores Cancer Center (MCC), and Center for Novel Therapeutics (CNT) co-organized “KU-UCSD/CNT Seminar Series #1”. The first in this seminar series was held by Zoom Webinar on Friday, October 16 from 9:00 a.m. Japan time. The guest speaker was Dr. Tasuku Honjo, Director of the Center for Cancer Immunotherapy and Immunobiology, who gave a special lecture titled “Future Perspective of Cancer Immunotherapy”.
Nearly 350 researchers from Kyoto University as well as UC San Diego and other nearby institutions participated in the seminar. Representatives from both universities, Dr. Nagahiro Minato, President of Kyoto University and Dr, Kazuhiro Iwai, Dean of the Graduate School of Medicine, and Dr. Pradeep Khosla, Chancellor of UC San Diego, Dr. Thomas Kipps, CNT Director and Dr. Scott Lippman, MCC Director gave an address on behalf of both universities. In a special lecture, Dr. Tasuku Honjo presented a wide range of known discoveries as well as new research results, which were discussed in a lively question and answer session.
To promote online research exchange activities under the corona disaster, this kind of the seminar will be held periodically in the future.
